LS Wheel Studs and Transmission

Hello,

Has anyone had any luck finding lug nuts for this thing anywhere other than the dealer?

Secondly how have your transmissions been holding up? My transmission stopped going into 4th and 5th gear at 56k miles (lincoln warranty ends @ 50k as I'm sure u guyz know). I'm just trying to figure out if I just have bad luck or if it's a common problem.

Thanks,
BaltimoreBoy

Many LS owners have switched to MB579290 lugs are for 1996-1999 Chyrsler Sebring (all wheels).

Sounds like you have bad luck. Though the tranny does have a few issues, it's basically the same as the one in the Explorer, so it's definitely field tested.

I've heard of people using the other lugnuts, but you can use the wheel studs from the seabring too?

Thanks,

 I purchased my 2004 LS in September 03. At the 6K mile mark, the transmission started slipping, at first almost imperceptibly. The dealer couldn't pick it up at first. Now my car literally JUMPs into reverse and slips consistently from 3-4th gear. I now have 11K on the car and have an appt w/ the dealer next week. Am I in for a load a problems? I see this transmission problem all over the internet! Could I have a different transmission in my car than the one you say is "field tested" via Explorer. Too many people are reporting this problem. I still have the window sticker in my files and it says I have a French transmission. If this is not the same transmission as the explorer, I need to know. I LOVE the car, but have zero desire to coddle a lemon for the next few years. My time is way to precious. Should I cut my losses and trade it in for something more reliable?

Your trans only uses French castings. It's assembled in either MI or OH. Yes, the '03 and '04 transmissions are "updated versions" of the older tranny. They don't share very many parts, though, in actuality.

Obviously I'm biased, but I'd say you need to try another dealer and work throught the problem. Once you get the bugs out, this will be a very rewarding car to own.

Boy I hope this is the right lug nuts. My wifes 01 has many of the originals marred from the thin cheap a$$ covers on them.
To the point its hard to get a socket over them.

Are these Sebring lugs chrome?

Thanks,

Dennis

I have had 3 significant repairs on my 00 V6 Sport tranny . In my opinion it is a systemic problem. Since you are just out of warranty you may be able to get an after warranty adjustment for the repair of the tranny. Push the dealer and Lincoln customer service hard enough but in a civil manner and you should get what you want.

Well they do fit by gosh.

The dealer said they also fit a mitsubitchy.

$3 a piece here.

Thanks for the forum guys.
