I have a 95 Jetta GL. Starting in about January a little red light came on and flashed- but only when it was cold out or snowing. If i drove the car long enough to get the temp of the engine warm and turned the car off and back on, the light would go away. The light that is flashing is the same symbol as the symbol on the heat gauge. I got a hose replaced recently because it was leaking oil, and the light has came on less- but it is also getting warmer. If any one knows what I should do.. please tell me!
An other prob: My speedometer light only comes on when it feels like it. Sometimes it comes on as soon as I turn my car on... and then dies after a while of driving. Sometimes it just comes on when i am driving and dies again. Is it because of a loose wire.. or what? Thanks!

It sounds like you're talking about the coolant level sensor light. It will flash if the coolant level is low. It makes sense since it will go out when the engine warms & coolant expands, filling the reservoir (the ignition has to be cycled off to reset the light). Check your coolant cold & see if it's low, otherwise the sensor may be bad. The dash light is probably just making a bad connection. You will probably have to go in there & twist it to make better contact. It is also possible the actual bulb filament burned & makes intermittent contact, but jiggling it should answer that question.
