I'm looking into buying a 1991 mitsubishi of some sort. I would rather not get stock turbo, Id rather have this as a future project. What is the difference between the GS, GS Turbo, and GSX?
I know that the GS is a 16V non turbo, the GS Turbo is turbo, and the GSX is turbo + AWD. AWD is neat, but ive heard its overrated.
Is the only difference in these cars the turbo and the drive system?
Or is there different engines, frames, trannys,ect...?
For aftermarket, which has the most avialable? Or all they all techincally the same car so they all have the same amounts?
Thank you,
Adam

They all have the same engine.

Don't do this, you will be spending a lot more money if you even are able to do it. Buy a turbo right off the bat, they have more aftermarket/potential by far.

i have heared ppl bustin' their tranny because of the GSX's launches :disappoin because GSX's launch like a mother @#$#@%!!
oh and about the "GS turbo" you mean the GST, right? also the turbocharge cars(GST,GSX) have the "turbo" spoiler i belive.

Also money isnt the biggest concern, I will have roughly 2k to buy the car and 2k to blow on things like turbo, performace clutches, and whatnot each summer. This car wont be driven a ton, I would like it to be fast, but is it worth paying 300 dollars more for the turbo system rather than buying a t3/t4 later and putting it on a non turbo?

is this because there will be certain parts i wont need to repace if i upgrade the turbo, or is it because only parts of the stock turbo has to be replaced if it is burned/blown out?

I know you think it's better to 'put on a t3/t4 later' but it really isn't.
Don't be worried about a worn turbo on 100k miles. If the worst happened to it, you could get a replacement turbo for 100-300 bucks used.
There are enough reasons not to buy a non-turbo if you want a turbo in the long run to fill a book. The moral is: It's not cheap, and you DO NOT want to attempt it.

Aftermarket upgrades for a turbo DSM? Yes, you can get them easily.
The parts to convert a non-turbo to a turbo? Check the sticky thread, it's definately not easy.

DSM is the plant that made Talon/Eclipse/Laser. Some other cars are considered DSM, and some T/E/L aren't considered them, but for simplicity, T/E/L + galant VR4
