RX7 Still a Sleaper????

Is it Rx7 still considered as a slepper or what's going on?:banghead:
And this statemet is based, because 70% of people i have meet and talk to Don't know about the Mazda Rx7,
20% they know about it but they don't know facts about it , for example : they said is a 4 cilynder or is hella fast etc etc. and
10% of them they do know about their Mazdas.

I wondered why it was so quiet too. I think sleeper is more or less a phrase for a car that doesnt look fast but is considerably fast.

I always thought a sleeper was a car that wasn't fast from the get go, but could pass you after mid-track like nobodies business. off to a slow start, then explodes into action like a bat out of hell...kinda like...*yawn* "hey, what's going on? a race? HOLD ON, I'M COMING! *VROOM* WINNER!

I'mma say 6 beers.

Heres a hint, no guesses have been right yet.

I'd say the turbo model rx-7 is more of a sleeper to the uninformed person since the turbo tends to quiet the exhaust a little more. Plus the turbo is faster so it can dominate.

I'd say a stock bodied rx-7 non-turbo with intake/header/exhaust and high flow cats with a rebuilt and ported engine is a sleeper, a stock non-turbo isn't fast enough to be a sleeper, although they pull from 35mph pretty quick(somehow I pulled from 35 up to 65 as fast as a turbo MKIII supra... wierd?)

the turbos have a hood scoop, hood scoop usually means turbo/supercharer/or just sports car, so basically defys being a sleeper

oh and my guess on the beer part: way more than he needed :)

RX-7, unless you're that stupid then it's not since it beats anyone stock, kind of ish. A sleeper must have mods on it. Anyone check out that Sport Compact Car issue with sleepers in it? Like an Eclipse, old school Civic perhaps, idk...stuff like that. My car would especially be a sleeper, 1st Gen Eclipse with a few bumps here and there. Needs some body work but if it could go fast...anyhow......

Ah, not a good idea. :screwy: They kind of put that hood on it for a reason.

I have a FMIC no need for the hood scoop.
I am putting on a RE hood next week - not exactly low profile but it is reverse cowled so it will serve me well.

Sleeper in my book, is a car you dont expect to be able to beat you and does.

My RX-7? I'll say its a sleeper I have suprised the hell out of various Vettes and a WS-6 recently. I had a Viper try to shake me loose with a goose of his gas once and when I jumped out in font he slowed the hell down and moved away.

When I go to Autocrosses no one gives my car a second look in the pits - its just another ricer wanting to be a racecare driver.

After my run group goes there are lots of visitors to see whats up.

im getting an n/a alum. hood for my tII once i get a fmic.... that will be a "sleeper" (no knowledge of the turbo until the bov goes PSSSSSSSSS..hehehe)

Here is a perfect example of why RX-7's are sleepers. I saw this last night and thought of this thread. Scroll down and read how the fastest 7 there ran a 15.1. Now look at all the turbo hoods.

yea rx-7s are sleepers... not to any extreme though... people see them and are like yea those cars are pretty quick, but no one expects you to blow them away in their 5.0 mustang or their vette... can't wait till I can do that :)

Tha's Cool !! RX7's are still sleapers, and Picture #5 on that link looks like my car . My is N/A 4 lugs. cool!
