My brother just got his 91 Lumina 3.1 repaired. It was leaking oil around the oil pan from what is called the "distributor plug." Where is this located and what is it for?

The distributor plug is located on top of the block below where the throttle body is on the intake. Can be hard to see. It is used for driving the oil pump.

Thanks. I was wondering if it was a hard to reach area because they charged us two hours worth of labor for it. I didn't think it would be a two hour job.

Depending on the intake setup you either have to remove the throttle body or the upper intake. I have done enough that I can't remember. If I remember right though in 91 you could remove the throttle body and do i that way.

Thanks for the clarification, I haven't dealt with the w bodies much before.
I heard that the reason there is a plug is because they used this block previously with a distributor but they took it out of the 91 block and just stuck a plug in where it would normally go. Is that true?
