Anyone got any horror stories from any of the quick lube(or dealerships) for that matter ?
Such as.....

1999 Grand Cherokee came in with a B-A-D Vlave cover leak, so the kid is under the car with his trouble light and 100 watt bulb hooked to the frame. Goes on his 5th break comes back to fir in his HORROR a Grand Cherokee Engine on fire !! Of course he attempts to put it out with a near by hose... the rest of the story (and jeep) is history.

i dunno how many times i've heard stories that mongo's working at those joints wrench on an oil filter so hard you either destroy it trying to get it off, or you have to shove a screwdriver thru it in order to break it free. you'd think an oil change joint would know how to properly tighten an oil filter........

Okay, here's a good story.....
I used to work at a Pontiac Buick dealer. Back in 1988 or so, this customer brings in his 6 month old Trans Am, (305 V8 and a 5 spd.) for an oil change.
The oil change monkey changes the oil, but when he removes the filter, it breaks and leaves part of the steel threaded nut thing still on the engine. He either does not notice or does not care.
He installs a new filter, but the new gasket does not seal because the old nut thing prevents the new filter from screwing the filter in all the way.
He starts it up and never checks for leaks. The customer leaves.....and returns in an hour saying the car got 3 miles down the road and seizes up because all the oil leaked past the bad gasket in the filter.

The dealer accepts respnsibility and agrees to replace the engine for free. They order a 305 factory crate engine. They get it 3 days later, but it turns out its a 350 V8. They call the customer and say the car is delayed another 3 days, they must get the right engine shipped.

The customer says 'hold on, if the 350 will fit, put it in' He is thrilled because the 350 has 20 more hp than the 305.

Now, you all know Pontiac never installed the 350 with a 5 spd back then, because that transmission cannot take the greater torque of theat engine. Sure enough, that customer is back in 3 months with an exploded transmission. The dealer will not honor his warranty claim because the new engine VIODED his warranty!!!!
