ok from the pics, the motor looks dirty real dirty. i purchased a motor (b16) from a local shop here in puerto rico, it was imported from japan and the motor inside looked like new, if u find any residew or little pieces of metal or corotion then the engien is bad, clean the motor up and then take more pics(more than one) from diferent angles. because the pic u took makes it a little difucult to tell.

any suggestions how to clean it up? should i take everything out? i mean take the crankshaft off, piston, rods, disassemble everything? only problem is im not too familiar putting it all back together, especially the cams...

It all looks pretty normal. what I would do is clean it put new rings in have the valves done new vgaskeys slap it in and go.

Man if you ask me, that motor looks like piss. The head is so dirty underneath the vavle cover. Looks like the previous owner didnt use syntetic oil or something. Also, do I see corosion or something in piston #1? I'd give that motor a good cleaning before firing it up.

Its not bad, ive had better, as well as worse... you can clean it all up with stripper/acid and then replace the rings and gaskets
