Whats the difference between an H22a motor and an H23a, and if there is a difference, can i make an engine swap with the H23a? And if I did make an engine swap to an H22a or H23a would I still have A/C, or will anything change or have to be taken out?

the numbers in most if not all honda motors stand for the displacement. so the h22 is a 2.2L and the h23 is a 2.3L. the h22a has vtec and the h23a doesn't. if i were you i'd use the h22. not positive but pretty sure that the h23 can go in any prelude cuz i'm guessing that's what you have. don't know if the a/c brackets are the same though

pain in the ass. you can do it but you will have to get the h22 bracket and compressor if they don't make a bracket that will bolt your d16 compressor to the h22.

i don't get it; the h22 has a higher compression, more hp and torque, plus its V-TEC, why did the h23 go in the SI? isn't the SI like the sportier version of the car? does the h23 turbo better or something?

are you talking about the ones before the last version of the prelude? i don't know what honda was smoking when they did that but you noticed that they did the same thing with the del sol. they had an si version and then the dohc vtec one. just weird but oh well shit happens

speaking of 4 gens, they probably wanted a variety of styles to choose from. the VTEC prelude is about $2000 more than the Si prelude. A similar question would be why even make a civic DX or LX when the EX is a lot better. Well, sometimes they can't afford that extra $1000, or they don't need those extra things.
