I have a 2001 chevy Tahoe. Ever since I bought it used from the local Chevy house here in town, I have had a squeaky belt problem. The dealer replace the belt with a new belt, this fix the problem for about a month. Now the squeak has returned, however now after I drive for about 30 minutes the squeaks stops. Any ideas as to what the problem is? Is it a belt( keep in mind I put a new belt on) or a pulley or something else? How can I correct this annoying squeak? I’m tired of getting strange looks from people as I squeak thru parking lots at the local Wal-mart, grocery store ect….. Any information would be greatly appreciated…

I had the same problem with my 2001 Tahoe. It turned out that the power steering pully was pushed too far on to the shaft, and that caused a minor misallignment with the crankshaft pully. The dealer simply had to realign the pulley's by moving the power steering pully out slightly, and it has been perfect for the last 2 years.

I took my Tahoe back onto the chevy dealer yesterday and told him about the power steering pulley problem and about 15 minutes later and $25.00, the problem was fixed. Thanks for the info, I wish I would have known about this months ago, Anyway I'm glad It's finally fixed....
