Sorry about the crappy lighting in these but my camera blows, but in person it all looks twice as clean. There used to be oil and dirt stains all over the place, but I sprayed/scrubbed the entire engine and tranny down making it look really nice and bright now. There's a local Honda/Acura show here tomorrow I wanna check out and hopefully get some attention :dunno:

btw I have an aem short ram and ngk plug wires installed since my last pics..

Tight ride, where'd you buy your projectors? Good luck with the car show.

looks like you upgrade ground wires on valve cover. i just made my own ground kit, did u make yours?, and if you grounded other stuff where exact points you ground? i'm looking for exact spots to ground.

I used 4 gauge wire on the valve cover and one down on the tranny, that's it..

what to use to clean the underside of the hood, mines got some oil vapor stains from oil leaks buring on manifold, that won't damage paint?

Ricochet

soap and water should do it... This stuff I used for the engine said not to get it on the car's exterior paint so I guess engine cleaner isn't a good idea.

Mine is made by Aerospeed but they look exactly alike.

mines is more like in the shape of a V insteag of going straight across..i guess the 01+ are made differently

can you feel the difference if you add an upper front strut
or are they mostly for show?

less chassis flexing, but increases understeer...best thing to do in a FF IMO is to stiffen up the rear.

i think i'll get one since they don't cost an arm and a leg.

The front tower brace makes a pretty big difference imo. Some sway bars and suspension would be 10x better but that's some money right there.

Only two pics showed up. The rest are X's, but from what I can see, looks damn good.

the upper front strut made a difference on my end... theres this one place by my house with a bunch of S turns that is a shorcut to my house.. i take that route home everyday.. steering response is way better now and doesnt sway as much but like everyone else says... it gives more understeer(i thought it was oversteer).. getting the front first outweighted my options to get the rears first... got the front first not only to stiffen but for looks... next will be my lower rear then upper rear

Looks REAL clean! I want to do the same thing! What parts should I avoid from getting wet? The battery, the fuse box, the alternator, the distributor...what else?

I covered my valve cover breather, air intake filter, and distributor.. that's it.

Theres none? Pardon my little knowledge on the technical side of the engine but how does the spark come on if theres none.

its the new direct fire, distributor-less system, but it sucks cause there is only one company so far that makes aftermarket plugs for our cars and they cost an arm and a leg.

How does it differ from the distributor type?

xproductionz
03-23-2004, 01:11 PM
yea.. damn ignition solutions.. fricken more than an arm and a leg it seems... just waiting for the day that MSD and NOLOGY start making stuff so i can get my ignition stuff done with out buying the way to expensive stuff... though i wonder why honda decided to use the more expensive ignition stuff.. its the same stuff used in bmws and so on... but then again it does get rid of water problems associated with distibutor systems

if you look at distributor systems.. the spark comes from the cap and goes out to each wire which goes to each spark in the sequence it supposed to in turn makes the engine spin...sometimes systems like these get moisture in em and wont work properly and to adjust the timing you would rotate the distributor either clockwise or counterclockwise.... now on a direct fire system which is in the 01+ civics... each spark plug has its own firing mechanism in it... so its like having 4 distributor caps.. one in each of the spark plug wells.. to the power doesnt have to travel across wires to get to the spark plug like in a conventional distributor system hence the name "DIRECT FIRE" heres what it sorta looks like when you pull it out of the engine except these are the aftermarket ones made by ignition solutionshttp://www.ignitionsolutions.com/images/productsDirect.gif with direct fire everything is all electronic including the timing... from what i heard but havent been able to confirm this yet is that you could program the timing to change at different rpms giving you more or less of what you need while taking into consideration of how fast the car is going as well.. another thing is the engine can get wet even the direct fire coils and still operate normally
