replacement for my slicks

I'm going to be buying some new sticky tires for drag racing before too long and I am considering one of the street legal varieties. I've always ran slicks so I know what to expect traction wise. My car is a stick with 4.11's and I normally dump the clutch at 4900-5000. What other tires will work like my trusty 26x8 slicks ? The reason for the possible switch isn't really for legality concerns. I've been caught out on slicks a few times when a rain shower let loose and that isn't fun. So I've been thinking about some treaded tires.

Well, I think your looking for drag radials now from what your saying. I don't think your going to find a D/R that will hook exactly like a slick will, but they should help a great deal compared to regular radials.
You pretty much got two choices, Nitto's or BFG's. I have Nitto's and they work decently, but to get the most out of them they really need to be heated up. They have a pretty decent tread life too, but really suck in the cold weather. BFG's will hook better then Nitto's and really don't need to be heated up to perform. But they also have a shorter tread life.

I am running the NITTO NT 555 R Drag Radials and they stick really well. They do need to be heated up pretty good though. I have run the BFG Drag Radials but I got better 60 foot times with the NITTO's.
