releasing ZX2 tension pulley

I searched the web as well as this forum and never found a specific enough solution to my problem: installing a new serpentine belt on my 1999.
--the tensioner is at the front of the engine between the PS and AC pumps.
--the bolt head is 13 mm.
--there isn't enough clearance between the fender well and pulley for a 3/8 ratchet and socket (about 1/8" too high), while a 1/4 isn't stout enough.
--box and open end wrenches can't get enough bite to hold onto the bolt head (but an offset wrench might work).
--Auto Zone had a loaner tool that is simply a 3/8 drive on a long, flat bar, thinner than a ratchet.
--a lower profile socket would have worked if one is made (my tools are mostly Craftsman).

Using some sort of prybar for leverage might suffice, but I was at Auto Zone already so I simply borrowed the tool.

you took the plash guards off, and are going form underneath? i just changed mine it took less then 20 mins. Easy. Used a 3/8 ratchet, normal length

Like I said, there isn't enough room between the fender and bolthead for my rachet (either Craftsman or S&K Wayne) with a socket attached. Maybe your rachet has a thinner profile? Your car is a '99 ZX2?

It can be done topside.

get a 13mm wrench with a curve on it and then pull/push to the head light and the belt should slip on i have done it many times and it has worked 4 me it is also easier with 2 people
