Headlight conversion

I see alot of body kits require work to fit on a 95-96 but work fine on a 97-99, why is this r the headlight assembleys diffrent.Could I just buy a set of 97-99 headlights and bolt them on to my car, r would some modifacation be requierd.

If you put 97-99 headlights on, there will be a gap between the inside of the lights and the bumper.

95-96 are smaller
97-99 are bigger
also they have a different shape and don't look good. If you get a 97-99 kit, buy 97-99 lights and vice versa.

if you get a kit that fits the 97+ years, there will be a gap. You must replace your headlights and front fenders. The angles on the 97+ vehicles is more pointed and there will be about an inch large gap on the inside of your headlights and you will have to shave the fenders to get a smooth installation. if you know a good body guy he can glass the inner part of the kit around your headlights and pretty much make it look like the kit was meant for your car. this is a royal pain in the ass though due to the small surface area. it often causes the newly glassed area to be too brittle and can break when closing your hood with too much force (because they actually contact your hood on the inner part of the light to compensate for the gap) It also takes a good amount of time to get it fit just right so you're going to have to pay for it and be without your car for a little longer. Believe it or not it would probably be cheaper and easier to just get the 97+headlights and something liek the Z3 fiberglass fenders. even if you don't like the look. they can easilly be glassed over. all you need is a good sander like the cookie monster and some resin. this not only makes the installation a 100% easier, it also saves you on some weight and about 150 dollars for the oem style steel fenders.
