I have a 97 chevy camaro V6 3.8 and i just bought it like 2 months ago, i replaced the power steering pump and after that the engine light came on a few days later the car just would not start, would crank but not start. the problem is that it keeps blowing up the PCM fues, any clue what could be causing my car to do this?
thank you

sounds like when you replaced the pump you might have done something to the harness that caused a short somewhere, maybe you accidentally stripped a wire somewhere thats grounding to the body...

maybe that is possible and we replaced the the seals on the valve covers and that took him at least a whole day to take it off and put it back the one on the passenger side where the dip stick for the transmission is..and blows when the car is moving..

get a volt meter or ohm meter, pull the pcm fuse. i think there should be 12 volts to one side of the fuse even with the ignition off, but try it both ways. find which side is hot, then check continuity to ground on the other side, or check resistance to ground.

now the car blows the fuse right away as soon as we put the fuse in the car the fuse blows it is fuse 13 initial PCM any ideas on what wires go to fuse 13?

definately sounds like a short, looks like you pinched a wire somewhere, and it is grounding to the chassis, so as soon as you put the wire in, ill look into what color wires are the power feed for the PCM, i would assume it is a large guage orange wire. i would just inspect all the harnesses around the areas that work was performed, and see if you can eyeball a damaged section.

definetley sounds like a short. do like the above fellow said, and check all harnesses and whatnot around the area you worked.

i think on a 3rd gen, the fused power to the "ecm" is a pink wire with a black stripe. but i dont know if it's the same for the 4th gen pcm.
