Where did you buy this?
The Apexi filter kit does not come with a AFM.

thanks for replying, I bought it on ebay. and it says apexi super intake. but it has thumb size hole on the pipe with a denso sensor or something of that sort. if i unplug the wire from the stock intake the engine will run a little rough and sometime it will stop.

Was this filter "advertised" specifically for a turbo MR2?

How are you unplugging the wire to the OEM AFM?
The correct way is to use the very thin C-clip that goes around the wire.

If you used the screw on either side of the wire, I am sorry to inform you that you destroyed the AFM. :(

I pull the clip out first then unplug the wire, after i unplug the wire my check engine light also came on.

Well the check engine should come on, it has to have that signal from the AFM.

It doesn't sound like you bought a filter made for the MR2. Filters that are made for the MR2 should only include the cone-style filter, and adapter plate to mount it onto the AFM and maybe a bracket ... nothing else.

thanks for your help my friend. By the way what kind of intake should get for my car to increase horses?

The actual K&N FIPK for the MR2 and the actual Apexi kit made for the MR2 are the best choices out there. I have always used K&N.

Just make sure you but the FIPK (it is the whole cone filter kit) and not just a K&N drop-in filter. K&N makes stock replacement filters that flow better than the OEM paper ones, but they are not nearly as good as the K&N cones sets.

Good luck.

I'm not sure if the name means too much, but I have always seen the Apexi intake for the MR2 turbo referred to as a "Power Intake". The "Super Intake" reference can be found associated with MK3 Supras, Skylines, DSMs, etc.

I believe that the Power Intake is a newer design than the Super Intake because of this wording on several vendors' sites: http://www.pagparts.com/air_intake/pprd_apexipwi/cat_splsh, "The Apexi Power Intake evolved from the highly successful Apexi Super Intake."
