If you have a 6 cylinder, go and buy a power programmer. There about 300 bucks. If you have a 4 cylinder, You have to splice into a wire on the tranny and put a toggle switch on it. You will lose your speedo, and void any warrenty, but it works.

pretty sure a snap on modis can turn it off for either engine, but there is a code needed. not sure of the code. THIS ADVICE IS MEANT FOR A TRACK VEHICLE ONLY! :evillol:

98 miles an hour is not fast enough for you in a light duty truck? trying to kill yourselfe? its not a sports car or bike... but yes, either the toggle switch (illegal considered odomiter fraud) or a power programmer will do the trick

would go that fast in a HD truck if the setting permits. I have seen a couple REALLY well built S-10's running alot faster than that, but not is a "permissable" setting though. Nothing wrong with racing a truck LD or HD, if the propper precautions are taken. Just as much can go wrong on a bike, or in a sports car.

aerodinamics, the side of an s 10 isnt the best with cross winds, there is more surface area then on my bike or in a ferrari, and the s 10 has more ground clearence, its not safe to do in a stock s 10 period. last summer a cross wind took a kid in a vett 20 min from my house, 16th b day, had the car tweeked out, it was a 96, he reprogrammed it, he flipped the car an estemated 7 times (thats the estimate because thats how many times the car hit the ground in the strech, he chould have flipped more or less) and hit a tree going 159 miles an hour, thats the speed he was going on impact, thats a preformence car designed for speed, were in a truck that is more a less a car in truck form

no, him and his little brother didnt, they died on impact, the little one wasnt wearing his belt, wound up stayen in the car, but neither of them had a chance at that speed, they made contact with a huge oak, passenger side door hit 4 ft off the ground(bottum of the door by the rocket panneling was 3 ft, 4 was at the handle or something like that), car was almost ripped in two

Growing up I was a rather fast driver and for years I rode a motorcycle until I was disabled at 52 years of age.
Had a wreck on the motorcycle, I was about 30 at that time, when going around a curve at better than 100 MPH, met a Mustang who was coming from the other direction going faster than I was, who was completely on my side of the road, I could either hit him head on or run off the side of the road into the ditch.
I chose the ditch, which was a sloping ditch, though I was going to be able to ride it out, but with the tall grass I could not see the big hole in the ground, when the front wheel hit it I went end over end as did the motorcycle and hit the ground curled up and went rolling, every time I tumbled on the ground I could see the motorcycle behind me tumbling in the air coming at me, I thought I was a goner, but I got by with one scratch and the motorcycle with a broke headlight and turn signal stalk, I was able to pick the motorcycle up and ride home, all people do not get the break I did, that day changed the way I rode the motorcycle and drove my car.
Oh, the car did not stop!
A few weeks later I spoke to a youngster of about 18 telling me about out running the police on his Honda and hitting speeds of 160 plus, I told him he was not crazy, just stupid and dumb.
I figure that an S-10 going speeds of 100 plus, is much stupider and dumber than even I was riding my motorcycle, for no doubt the motor cycle will handle so much better even though it has much less protection.
Speed does kill!

yeah i live in the fairly small but growing town of Katy TX and there is a certain neighborhood where what i consider (with the exception of a few) a bunch of spoiled rich kids whose parents buythem what ever they want. and maybe i'm evil but it almost amuses me when i hear of a kid crashing his 2005 zo6 or even believe it or not their viper. I had to work my ass off to buy my first car and i think it gives the driver a lot more respect for property when they have to work hard to earn a mediocore car instead of getting handed a high class for their 15th birthday. not dissing the fast driving though just got to know what your doing.

fast driveing, its done on the track by guys who do it for a living, there are very good reasons why nascar doesnt hold a street curcit on accual pavement, its to dangerous, even with the streets blocked off, driving roads arent ment for those kind of speeds, not enough of an imbankment around corners and what not

My first car was a 57 Chevy 4 door sedan in June of 1965 after graduating school and getting a job.
Daddy went with me to look for a car, we found 2, 57 Chevy's, one a 2 door hardtop that only had a 283 2 barrel carb, but the 4 door sedan had a full 283 POWERPACK in it.
When I left the car lot with the 4 door sedan daddy thought I had made a very wise choice and was following his advice on how much better a 4 door sedan would be, he did not know the difference in the 2 engines, "BUT I DID!

thank you all for your opinions. But keep in mind those are just opinions. With that being said, i would like to clear the air a bit. THIS IS NOT A FLAME.
For starters, i am not some spoiled rich kid, let alone a kid at all. I too had to bust my ass working 2 jobs just to get my first car and kept working to put money into it. I haven't been handed ANYTHING. I am of the opinion though that a "kid", all of 16 should NOT be handed a vette or viper, or any other "fast car". If he/she worked for it, that would be a little different, but should learn how to handle said car in a safe as possible environment.
In case you missed it, i posted a discalimer on my advice for removing the governer. While street racing can be "fun" if handled propperly, it is still illegal. I am not a dudley do right by any means, but there are some things i won't do if the propper precautions are not taken, hence why i don't street race.
Finally, if i wanna take my S-10 out on a track, run it at top end(probably 120 in my particular case), then that is my concern, NOT YOURS! If i don't come back, so be it. Must have been my time, but i guarantee i had a helluva time while i was here.
@ Jerry: Nice ride for your first. Mine was a '71 Charger. Sorry to hear about your wreck, but at least you had the guts to get back on and go home. Says alot about charactor. Your right, speed does kill. The very second you don't respect it, you will get hurt.

^ what you do on a track your right, i dont give a damn what any one does on a track, weather or not im on it, thats the risk i take putting a vehical on a 1/4 mile strech with up to 10 others, running up to 70 on the strech,, hey its a risk i know is there at that time, me driving home on the highway or a street, if i got reare ended by someone doing over 100 and im doing say 40, thats being rear ended at 60 miles an hour plus the loss of controll, now it just became my business and im pissed because i have a totaled truck that i have put my last 3 summers worth of pay into, that is just my :2cents: and where it comes into my concern, on the track you wear helmets and every one knows to look the fuck out when someons rigth there, and its a race, on the roads if im not willing to speed because i have 6 points on my licence already...

^ yes i do, 2 were for going 10 over on the highway, and 4 were for going 10 over on a side street within six months of the first, not going a hundred and somethin, doubblen the speed limit is a felony, not a misdiminer

ok well looks like i offened a few people... my comment was not to offened anyone. especially since i don't know any of you, and therefore have no right to judge...(not that i would anyway). I'm sorry i offenended you guys i wasn't trying to, your driving fast is your business, i just have a problem with ignorance.

YOU didn't offend me ndowdell, but someone who tried to tell me how to live MY life did. Ignorance and driving fast are 2 totally different things, and for those who can't see that, i guess we have to throw them in with the ignorants.
