speedometre

My son bought a 1985 T-Bird and it is originally an American car and we liv in Canada. I was told you can switch from miles to kilometres but I don't know how to. Does anyone know how. Also there are three squares in the dash and the middle one where the speedometre is has a burned out light. Is this easy to fix or do I need a whole new panel?

Fairly easy. Pull the trim panels and you should be able to take the whole instrument cluster out as one unit. The bulbs should be easily replaceable as well as the speedo head.

Find a Canadian model in a junkyard and use that head unit. I am not sure if a standard/metric conversion is possible. You may want to call a speedo repair shop and ask them.
