1997 Firebird Problem

I have a 1997 Firebird Formula 5.7L V8. A couple of weeks ago my "service engine soon" light came on. My buddy has a code reader and when we used it I got the code P0400, which the Haynes book says is EGR flow fault. I tried using the book to locate the EGR valve but couldn't find it. (Horrible diagram) Does anyone have any pictures of where it is located/ know how to get it it? I found a shop that said they would replace the valve and clean everything connected to it for $240. Is this a good price or am I getting ripped off? Thank you in advance for your help!

PS- I read somewhere that GM/Pontiac will replace the EGR valve on LT1's for free because it's faulty. Does anyone know if this is true? Thanks again!

The Egr valve is located on the backside of the intake manifold , You can't get a good look at it cause that part of the car is located pretty close to the dash and I never heard of Pontiac changing it for free but it never hurts to ask your local dealer

Check I belive There is some law that requires that emmision devices operate for 5 years 50,000 mi or dealer must replace it (I think thats what it used to be but with OBDII and all I'm not sure-) toss the haynes manual and get a mitchell manual or mitchell on demand ONLINE at a shop (our libraries have access to it). It will tell you in a flow chart how to find the problem ( worked on our 95) GL
