Turbo or Impul kit...HELP ME!!!

As some of you know, b-b00gie is getting the IMPUL kit from me so this is the situation....I got my sr20det motor last month and been saving up money for the installation, anyway, now b-b00gie is getting the IMPUL kit, I wonder if I should go ahead to get the kit along with him or install the motor
So hard to decide!!!!!!
what would you guys do??? Be able to go 0-60 in under 6 seconds, 235hp on the tap with the whistling of the BOV shifting through all 5 gears or the super duper good looking IMPUL kit????
:help:

its a really tough call...

the motor is definately something to drool for, as any g20 owner can tell you... we all want more power!!! i cant wait to get my DET this summer (with lots of install tips from you of course!! ;) )

i guess it mainly comes down to... do you want to go with out your car for awhile right now while they put the engine in and work everything out? or do you want to wait the eternal 6 weeks to get the body kit?

i probably wont get my kit put on for awhile when i get it cause i'm thinking of changing the color of my car, which is a ton of money to strip completely down and re-do in a new color....

Thanks for the replies...I am leaning towards the det motor as well. But still debating...cuz the Impul kit in my Hyper Rev magazine sure looks sweet!!!
Haha, seems like everyone wants tips from me to install the motor...am I some sorta test rat??? :D
When I have time, I'll post some pics of the motor sitting on my pretty engine stand and pinpoint the parts you need and don't need.
In the mean time, I am still so TORN between the two.
One note b-b00gie, the minium wait for the IMPUL kit is 6weeks....it took me 3months to get my wheels, so make sure you have lots of patience :dogpile:

wow...what a hard decision. either way theirs gonna be a wait. If you want the motor, you can do it right away and get it installed, but that'll take a while. But if you get the kit, you gotta wait for the kit and you gotta get it painted and installed which still another wait..hmmm...I'd say get the kit and while your waiting for it, save your money and by the time it comes in, you'll have money to paint it and by the time that gets done, you can still put a little towards the motor...damn maybe by that time, you might have the money get it all done at the same time...who knows. Well...whatever you get, your car's still gonna be tight and just think you probably have both eventually anyways :jump:

Go with the turo motor. You can do it straight away and get some instant satisfaction (Assuming everything goes to plan). You will have to wait for the kit. If it was me I couldnt be that patient. I would have wanted it yesterday. My vote is for the motor. Go kick some arse! (Only problem being is that after the motor is installed, u will have to spend your money on replacing all those burnt out tyres! HAVE FUN!)

G22DET
05-03-2001, 02:23 AM
man, i am replacing tires on a yearly basis already...and that's only with a JWT intake! haha..well, and lots of suspension work.
It would take me about a week to install the motor and get it running right since i already have the engine...for the kit, I would have to wait a long ass time for it to get here, but once it's here, only about a week to get it painted and installed on my car...either way, I would have to spend lots of money, which is something I am dearly lacking right now hehe
oh, someone asked about Hyper Rev magazine....I got it at the local Little Tokyo bookstore ( i live in CA ) and it costed me freaking $38bucks!!!! but it's worth it though I think, it has became my bible! almost 200pages of full color ads and articles on the P10 and P11...if anyone is intersted, it's Volume 42

Well, I guess they have to ship it over here, but did they buy it a seat on the concord or what!! Was it in English?

Anyway, I would go for the motor, then get the body kit later. Then you would have a sleeper for a while, then a bitchin' machine!:D

There is nothing more amazing than the look on other drivers  when they think they'll lick an underpowered G20 and you take off like a bomb. Hell I'd put on the DET and play innocent at stoplights. The price of buying the engine ..$ ?, the cost of downtime $, the look on other drivers face ....priceless.:frog:

like primera_gte i'm gonna say turbo here.. think about it: show or go? rocket or rice?

b-b00gie
05-16-2001, 12:07 PM
hmm... show or go is a fair thing to say.. but rocket or rice I dont think applies here...

there's nothing wrong with making your car look nice, putting cheap "trendy" things on your car... ie.. altezza lights, LED lights on your washer nozzles, etc... that's rice. ;)

a tough decision....let's weigh each factor:

let's say you are at a light with the body kit and no turbo.
some honduh driver pulls next to you,
his girlfriend says "that guys car is tight",
and the guy figures you might have some muscle to back-up all the makeup.
there's a small chance he might beat you.

now, if you had the turbo, with no body kit,
the guy at the light will think he's got it easy.
(of course if you are in a G his girl will still say the car is tight)
you smoke his ass,
he blows his motor,
his girlfriend gets in your car
and blows.... welllll uh....:evillaugh:

I've made my decsion.

someone find me the web site for them kits....i just have to have one for my P11...LOL:D :D :D

I'm going out to my car now and i'm going to start taking off all that boring STILLEN stuff and going to do some real body art like they have :finger: :finger:

I think my P11 is missing that extra 20 feet of bumper and all that down force i will need off them roof spoilers.

b-b00gie
05-16-2001, 04:36 PM
those arent bumpers, they are benches

japanese.
how do you post pics?
i'll post a couple of bad boys in a day or so.

b-b00gie
05-16-2001, 07:00 PM
oh ok... cause if there was someone making Impul rip-offs in the US i'd flip... lol.. I just paid $3350 to have the Impul kit imported from Japan, I'll be the first to own it here!! ...but anyway.. if someone was making them here for a third of the price I'd have to flip, lol...

about the pics... you can use the attach function if you have the pic on your computer... or the IMG button to link to an image somewhere on the net....

the actual IMPUL kit (front, rear, sides) costs about $2500 in Japan... but to get it to the US it cost me $3350 from Luke... the price difference is due to the shipping of such a HUGE box. it is shipped to the USA (California) through a freight company in Japan and goes to customs, once there it gets inspected and you have to pay for import tax based on the value of the purchase, plus flat rate customs charges... then the package is picked up by the freight company and Luke (who got me the kit) goes and gets it from them and then it gets shipped to me...

so the extra $850 goes to:

shipping from Japan to USA approx $300-400
import tax approx $100
customs charges approx $100
shipping from Digital Racer to me approx $100

...i'm sure Luke made some profit in the deal ($150-250?? just guessing) ...but hey I really dont care!! :)

i once ordered a spoiler from europe which cost $175 US
after freight and customs/import tax... i paid another $190 so in total i paid $265 for a $175 spoiler :(

Tell us exactly what each kit entails, everthing!

b-b00gie
05-17-2001, 08:33 AM
It is a body kit which has...

a full front bumper
a full rear bumper
new side skirts

the total cost shipped from Japan cost me $3350 US dollars... which is $5140 Canadian if you're wondering Chris

I should have the kit in about another 4 weeks, if Luke doesnt steal it lol.. its the first one in the USA =)

btw for good pics... go to this thread:

Submit Cool Pictures Here... Part III (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?threadid=2482)

on the first page i posted pictures of a white primera with the Impul bumpers and side skirts. You can see the detail better than on the Impul website.
