Class Action against Chevy...who is with me..

After going through the Malibu formus, surfing and checking on-line, I have come to 2 conclusions about my 1999 malibu.
1) The blower on 1 and 2 doesn't work right.
2) The cooling system is not working right.
Both of those things will cost us Malibu owners hundreds if not more.
So what can 1 person do.
Nothing. But what can we do.
Well If enough of us, Malibu owners get together, as one voice, I would be willing to bet that Chevy would settle with us as a group and avoid bad press. If not, any lawyer worth his or her weight in spit, would represent a class of Malibu owners. Now before a band wagon is sent out, i.e., a P.O. Box rented to receive complaints, can we post this note, and see where it goes?
So you can be part of this complaint a few ways.
1) if your blower motor failed on 1 or 2 speeds, 1 or more times
2) if your cooling system is in bad shape, or has failed.
Here's what to do:
1) send me an e-mail to [email protected]
2) indicate your problem(s)
3) indicate Model of Malibu, and year (you can give VIN, but can hold off if you like for security sake).
4) give good e-mail where you can be contacted
5) authorize me to do only the following: send a letter as a group to chevy asking for fair compensation for problem, i.e. actual cost for repairs (car rental if needed). Thats all, I am not asking for any legal powers, or want them, no representation beyond asking chevy nicely.
Here's what I will do:
1) compile all complaints into a spreadsheet
2) write chevy a letter
3) post, and e-mail the "group" a response. Now if the response is more than I can handle, be patient, I will compile for ~2 months after the posting date, i.e. until May 31st, or at least till I get 100 or so responses. I think after 100 they should listen carefully. They say every customer is important, so 100 must be presidential in nature.
If nothing happens, then we tried, if something happens, then we get something, so no one except me is in a no loose situation. I promise not to take any pay-offs from Chevrolet, and if I dissapear in the night, I have given you all permission to initiate a Federal investigation.
What do you say !!!!

Sorry, not me. My '98 LS has had those problems (A/C switch repeatedly) and MANY more. But I have the extended warranty (thru late August of this year) and haven't paid for a thing. Plus, I'm only keeping it 9 more months max.
The best way for me to get back at GM is simply by not buying another GM product and, unless the stars line up perfectly, which is highly unlikely, I'm gonna "turn Japanese".
The Sales Manager at my dealership nearly committed hari kari this morning when I told them of this decision. I've been a fixture for 8 1/2 years ('96 Monte Carlo lemonaid before the Malibu). "Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me, fool me three times, and I need to be committed for insanity!"
Good luck if you persue, but don't count on much.

Well good for you. Apathy is the strenght of America!
Wether the problem is covered by warranty or not, some people are out of warranty, but thats not the problem. The problem is a fundamental design flaw, two flaws.
1)they really don't know about the life of the cooling system.
2) they did't predict the problem with the resistor of the cooling fan, but refuse to acknowledge it.
I guess you never stuck it to the man. Here's your chance whether or not you will buy another chevy, make them accountable.
OR not, it is a free county, and Chevy is counting on our apathy, and excesses not to follow through with any real movement. Let's show them otherwise.
With Respect....

Sure, I understand. I never sued anyone in my life. I contacted chevy first. I asked them to fix two problems. The resistor, which was previously replaced under warranty. Actually the dealer replaced the whole control mechanism for the fan control, and billed that part and labor, where only the resistor failed. I did substatial research to find out that indeed that resistor part failed on many automobiles! So it would seem it falls under the statute of hidden defect. Checvy knows it, because they have statistics, which the don't relase, indicating a defective part. Secondly, the claim that the cooling system is maintenance free for at least 100,000 miles. This is untrue. All Chevy dealers I took my car to recommended a switch to regular coolant! According to Chevy, this would have been a very bad move. All other garages told me that the extended life coolant has been good for them since in certain cars, it doesn't work right. I have been told that Mailbus run hot, so put two and two together, and the 1999 cooling system was shot at 100,000 miles~!! I just spent 1000$ fixing it. All I needed was a service warning at 50,000 miles, and I would have been fine.
So my remedy for these two problems is to hold Chevrolet or GM accountable for their design flaws, and or hidden defects. They didn't want to deal with me as an individual, so I asked others like me to help have a more impactful voice. Thats all. No one wants to sue them, we just want them to be accountable. I would say every car shold have problems because humans drive them, however, if many cars with different humans have the same problem, it means something very different. Significant. I hope I made my point, no disrespect, since it is America, we are both free to express our views. Thank goodness for that!

Ehh, it's an American piece of junk, what do you expect? After my Malibu (had the AC problem also), I'm just not gonna buy another GM (or American for that matter) vehicle again (unless it's a truck, then I'd go with Dodge).

Last week my 2001 Malibu had to have it's intake gasket and water pump replaced. My extended warranty covered most of it. My car is still leaking something. There was a damp spot under my car this afternoon when leaving work. Oh well, hopefully the pos will last 6 more months so I can sell it before going overseas.

Let me see, where do I begin; How do I count the ways? - brakes worn out after 12K, 23K, 30K miles; new rotors 3 times; taken to the dealer for a intyake manifold gasket job and on the way home from the dealership (yes - that same night!) it overheated so I had to turn right around and return it the next day for a value job (it was good of them to offer it at no labor costs). Let me say that right now, it runs great. AFTER I took the heads out (1 year after the intake and valve jobs) and did them myself. No, the chevy dealer sh - er I mean pooped on me 3 times. I wrote chevy letters. It will take an act of congress to get something done - and they don't care because they automotive industry gives them more than we do. No, I will just not buy another new chevy again.

Like Peeing In The Wind. Do You Realize What You Would Win, If You Did Win? After Paying Off The Lawyer[s]....about $50.00 Per Consumer. Word Of Mouth Is What Will Hurt Chevy.
If Your Near The End Of Your Warranty Period, Trade Them In, Or Sell Them Outright. [mine Puked At 98k Out Of Warranty]
I Think The Best Thing We Can Do Is Replace The Thermostats With Lower Temp Thermostats, Hardwire The Cooling Fans To A Dashboard Switch, And Change The Dexcool At 50,000 Miles.
Sad....but We Just Have To Live And Learn, I Guess.
