need firing order

for a 84 camaro Z28 most prob no its the 305 HO any help id appre.

I believe its 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2

Driver side cylinders (starting from front of car
1 3 5 7

Passenger side are
2 4 6 8

I got the firing order for the spark plugs but how do u know were to start on the distributor cap?

looking at the distributor from the front there will be two posts on the front, 1 is the one to the right.

so when i look at it there is a center post but I went with the one on the right. From there i went 12345678 to the right is that right? But it almost fired right up. I just put a new battary in with new termanals. And I'm geting new spark plug wire set Wednesday.

change the wires one at a time then theres no room for error

the distributor has a clockwise rotation i believe the terminal for #1 points towards the front passengerside headlight. line up the timing marks on the pulley with the pointer on the front cover. if the engine is on the compression stroke the rotor should be pointing more or less forward. now it is pointing right at the terminal for cyl#1 on the cap. now plug in the remaining wires following the #1 wire in a clockwise pattern for 8-4-3-6-5-7-2. if you can't figure all this out look at another chevy with a small block and hook them up the same way. good luck!!
