I searched around for a little bit and couldn't find what I needed. I am considering a 14b swap for my spyder. What modifications are necessary BEFORE the swap. I realize that I will need a hacker/install kit but I want to make sure I have everything in place before the swap. I have an injen intake, 2 1/2" DP, 2 1/2" hi-flow cat, MBC and a 1g BOV. I have not yet done the cat back....do I have to??? Also, if I go to look at a used 14b....how do I know it's any good? I read that you have to look at the fins and check for shaft play. Do you just grab the shaft and wiggle it?? Will my stock clutch handle the extra power....what boost is safe to run (on pump gas)? Thanks!!!

Yes, shaft play is one way to check its condistion. It will and should move a little. How much is too much is up to experience unfortunately. Be sure to move it ina nd out as well to check the thrust bearing tolerance. Thats where I always seem to kill turbos. A catback will be very helpful, but it wont kill you to have the stocker for now. I ran out of fuel on stock injectors at about 16-17 psi, so be sure to datalog to keep things safe, and do some fuel mods as soon as you can afford to.
