KA24E (t?) info needed

Ok Im not exactly a newbie but im no expert either... I know about rebuilding motors but nothing about forced induction... so; I have a 1990 240sx it has the KA24E (SOHC) ... I wanna boost this bad boy. This is my idea, get a silvia intercooler, a cold air (mayb ram air) intake, stronger fuel pump, and high pressure injectors.

I would like to use a BOV and turbo or a twin turbo from like a 3000GT, supra, or 911... something like that. My questions are; will a turbo(s) from any of those bolt up well... and are the upgrades I mentioned above good enough to keep my engine from getting blown in the process.

Also since I have the SOHC, will this affect the durability or the risk of blowing the engine? As well as the dificulty of the addition of the turbo, will the fact that I have the SOHC cause me grief in the project?

Any and all info is welcomed!

The SOHC ka24 is a catch 22.

The SOHC runs a higher compression ratio then the DOHC ka24, so on stock pistons stock tuning, you will not be able to run as much boost as a DOHC would. But the plus side is with the higher compression, a lower boost setting will produce more horsepower then it would on the lower compression DOHC.

The manifold for one is cheaper then a DOHC one as well.

People say the KA24DE has a GREAT free flowing head, but it is relatively new in being exploited in the racing world. On the other hand the SOHC head has been used in racing for awhile and they make more parts and more people offer professional services on them.

Ok, that helps. What about the modifications i mentioned intercooler etc... will what i have mentioned be enough? or are they even needed at all?

I got this list from http://www.magoo.co.nz/turbos.htm#6
(1) A lower compression ratio;
(2) Stronger connecting rods, pistons and crankshaft (piston engine);
(3) A higher-volume oil pump and an oil cooler;
(4) A larger cooling system radiator;
(5) An o-ring block or stronger head gasket;
(6) Heat-resistant valves; and
(7) A knock sensor or ignition retard system.

For the KA24E, would I need to do all that?

Plus If anyone knows about the dificulty of bolting on a turbo from a 911, supra, stealth/3000gt, or anything like that plz let me know.

well what sort of horsepower or 1/4 mile time are you wanting?

you might not need all of those things.....

just about any used turbo is going to be about the same to install, most used turbos are also about the same size and usually have the same flange to mount up to the manifold. Something I've kinda seen is usually engines with larger displacement have a stock turbo that can flow more air. even though they might be the same family of turbo's they can vary a lot on what amount of air they move.

No real goal... I just have a thing for speed... And what if currently does dont really work for me. I had a GTP Grand Prix (supercharged 3800 Series II) and It had some get up n go... I want to have that again... Plus I like to mess with engines, So I have no real pre-set goal, just dont wanna hurt my engine while adding boost.
