SOHC to DOHC ????

First off im an idiot and new to the whole 240 world.
But i wrecked my mazda mx3 and a guy is willing to trade me his 89 240 for it. Hes got the engine bored out and flat top pistons in it dont ask the details i dont know. But its the single cam engine and i was wondering if there is a way to convert it to twin cam cause its all bored out and neat stuff like that so i didnt want to replace it with the twin cam version. Or would it even improve it if its possible.

As more people go turbo, people are finding out that theres not much performance gains between the SOHC and DOHC. Someone on NICO has a thread up on swapping the DOHC head onto the SOHC block and was successful in doing so with little modifications.
