Hi. Folks. It's my first time at this website and i love it. I would like to add horespower to my 00 AV6 coupe and by reading the threads, installing an AEM cold air intake is the way to go. Is it a do it yourself job? Any pics on how to install it? Also who has the best prices? Any other quick hp gains would be greatly appreciated. Also where can I get colour coded door edge guards? Thanks. Peter.

Intakes are just about the easiest and cheapest way to get a litle more HP. There are 2 types of intakes you could buy. The short ram air intake and the cold air intake. The cold air intake i beleive is supposed to have a little more HP. The only thing you have to do to install it is to take the stock air filter system off of your car. The only tools you need is a screwdriver and a socket wrench. If you buy the intake new from AEM there should be intructions but if there arent, just ask although if you cant put this on you really dont need to be working on cars because its as simple as it gets.

Don't you have to remove the bumper? Peter

If you buy the short ram intake you dont have to remove anything but the stock air system. Im not for sure about the cold air intake.

They say to remove the front bumper but you can do it by just removing the piece inside the wheel well. It makes it a little more dificult, but taking off the bumper might not be that easy either.
I'm a fan of Injen intakes...

Yeah, cold air intake is a good way to go. They say you should get a bypass valve to prevent water from getting sucked in your engine, but just be careful not to submerge your car in water. As far as brands, from what i hear, they are all basically the same preformance-wise, with only minute differences. The biggest factor in performance is really the filter. K & N filters are the best (just about everybody's opinion). I hear ram air is a bit louder that a CAI, but that I'm not so sure of.
