Did you have to lift it at all to get the 285's to fit?

285's are the biggest that you can go on a stock Z71.

Nope, just slapped them on there. I hope to be installing some Ford torsion bar keys soon to level the front of the truck a little more.
I've run both 285's and 265's. And the only difference is the 265 got slightly better gas mileage than the 285's.

You could try 255/85 R16's. I had some on my stock 2000 Chevy 4x4 and they were taller than the 285's. The 285's have a diameter of 32.8 & the 255's are like 33.1. They are really narrow though, I think they might be designed for the 4x4 1-tons but they worked fine for me.

I know a guy that had 285's on his stock 1500 4X4 and only had the front tires rub when he would hit a hard dip when four wheelin', otherwise no problems.

I just had my front torsion bars cranked. Can I fit bigger than 285 now?

I wouldn't try to. You'll end up having to trim things if you wanna go with bigger than 285.You could install a Body lift, that will give you 3" more room to work with.

I have some more aggressive looking tires then these guys on my truck. Same size your looking for and they look and work great. Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo (make sure it's the revo). Great all around tire and the tread is different. Take a look at them
