First problem began 2/6/04 with ABS light coming on - took to dealer print out states checked for codes in system - none found check wiring in the ABS system checked - OK road tested with Tech II system - OK replaced PCV valve. CHecked to find vehicle not getting up to operating temperature thermostat not closing replaced thermostat and topped off coolant test drove ok. Paid $218

ON trip "service engine soon light" came on, experienced loss of power going up hill. Took back to dealer, dealer print out states Cause: Tech II scan found fail codes P0141 Heater Performance Bank 1 Sensor 2 P0151 Circuit Low voltage bank 2 sensor 1 P0300 engine misfire EGR. EGR clogged failing replaced oxygen sensor bank 1 sensor 2 and oxygen sensor bank 2 sensor 1 . induction service, intake cleaning, injector service, 44K.spray. This cost me $1,001.

Took on the road, service engine soon light comes on. Dealer now states I need a tune-up; have the tune up. Take on the road 5 days after tuen up and service engine soon light comes on with loss of power.

3/18/04 - new info to add to my mystery, filled gas tank up this morning and service engine soon light went off - any ideas on what I'm looking for? Can someone please respond. Thanks.

DOes anyone have any idea of what is wrong here? I feel as though the dealer is guessing and bringing me back week after week. Any thoughts on who else I might go to as well as what the problem might be. Vehicle has not given me any major problems prior to this. Purchased in 2000 with 45,000 miles on it. today it has 144,000 miles.

Read your gas cap, Service engine soon light can come on if your gas cap is not tight enough. I think it is something like the evap control. And it will stay on until the computer goes through a complete drive cycle. Hope it helps.

I agree. I had the same service engine light problem. A friend at the Chevy parts dept. said it was the gas cap. Bought gas cap, never had the problem again. Worth a try. CCCD

I Have Had The Same Thing, You Normally Dont Have To Replace The Cap, Just Make Sure It Is Tight After You Fill Up. I Make 3 Rotations That Click The Full Turn. If The Cap Is Not On Tight Enough I Notice The Check Engine Light Between 3/4 And 1/2 Tank. Once You Tighten It On It Will Usually Take A 1/2 A Tank Of Gas Before It Turns Itself Off Or Filling Up The Tank Will Do The Trick. It Comes On Because The Pressure In The Tank Will Drop If The Cap Is Not On Tight Enough. If I Comes On No Matter How Tight You Are Getting The Cap Then You Might Need A New One.

When I Did All The Dianostic Work To Find This Out It Came Up With A Million Things That It Could Be , And Thankfully I Had A Trustworthy Mechanic That Didn't Charge Me Anything And Told Me To Make Sure The Gas Cap Is On Tight After I Fill Up, And My Problem Was Solved.
