Hi. Posted before about how I was going to "buy this" or "buy that" but really those were not thought out and thankfully didnt work out. Curently Im looking to buy an FC turbo II. My question is is it worth it to buy a Series 5 or just accept a Series 4. I know the S5 has more hp (and I think they rev higher) but I cant find any for a reasonable price (4000 or less). All I can find are S4's. One of the big things is that i hate S4 tail lights. I dont want to drive a car that I dont like. And finally is it practical to do a JDM turbo swap... how much are those motors and other than the motor and tranny what needs to be swaped out of the na. I ask this because ive found N/As with a blown motor or just plain cheap ($800) which would leave me 3200 to do the swap... is this enough (and I wont need TII hood because if I did the swap I would put in a front mount intercooler like this guy on this website did http://www.1300cc.com/howto/how2/frontend/phase5.htm )

Please help create another rotor head

EDIT: Really want a TII because they have ABS (ABS swap? lol)

actually, I prefer the S4. Less of an electrical pain in the ass.

4000 is plenty for an S4 with a TII swap AND S5 tails.

There is alot we can cover here..

First off, the ABS was only an OPTION on the TII... actually pretty rare in the s4.. I unfortuneatly have ABS in my Arctic Silver 88.

what is the point of doing a JDM swap to a TII? the only real diff is the lack of EGR

If you plan on swapping a N/A chassis to TII driveline you need to keep in mind there are other things you'll need in addition to just an engine.

Such as (but not a complete list... if a complete listed is requested just ask):
Transmission
(clutch and lw flywheel while you have the engine/trans out.
TII driveshaft
TII propeller shaft and rear diff..
TII rear axles...
TII ECU and engine harness (unless you go stand-alone... eg, microtech, haltech)
ALL sensors..(that don't come on the engine) (this gets pricey)
AFM, Boost sensor, knock sensor etc

yeah, you may as well buy a complete TII in need of some TLC and restore/mod it to your specs.. we build RX-7's and any other car for people at our shop. trust me it is cheaper in the long (consequently also the short run) to do it this way.

S5 tail-lights are plentyful... as are the s5 front and rear facsia/bumpers.
The sideskirts are out there too.. i even have a spare set in the shed.

Keep the Q's coming so we can figure something out for you.,

well ABS is high on my list but changing body parts isnt. I really havent paid much attention to the differnces between s4 and s5 bodys but i guess ill look and see if its ok. And what are the differnces between S4s and S5s (turbo IIs), because I keep seeing that people like the eletrical simplicity of S4s. In a perfect world I would get a S5 with a good bit of miles with and un rebuilt un replaced motor because that would make it cheap and give me the opertunity to port it while its being rebuilt (instead of not really needing to rebuild, just doing it to port). But if it comes down to it I might just get a very cheep NA s5 and buy a TII JDM front clip and just rebuild the JDM motor when i have it out. But on the other hand I dont think I have the skill to do a swap. I probably have the skill to rebuild (because everything goes on the way it came off) but not to swap (unless its pretty easy but hey when you have a master tech as a brother its not as hard)

Thanks for your feedback

Not to jack this thread, but dayna would you happen to have a rear bumper for an S5?

I love the front of the S5, it just looks more agressive with the indention(if thats what you'd call it) on the bottom, looks awesome to me, I don't know

aren't S4 chasis lighter than the S5 chasis?
engine swaps are really pretty easy as long as you put the same engine in that you took out, example: my cousin took the KA24DE out of his 240 when he blew it and put in a newer KA24de, him and his dad did it, took them a week and they had never done it before, but its good now, just make sure you have a lot of tools or know someone that does

anyways I'd say both TII's are a good choice

and I wouldn't worry about finding a turbo hood, it really shouldn't be overly difficult
