2000 rodeo stalls when idle, check engine confused

my 2000 rodeo has begun stalling as soon as i start it and if i am sitting idle. also, the check engine light can't make up its mind whether it wants to be on or off. i took it to an auto repair shop recently and they reset the computer (for free) and didn't seem to find anything wrong with it. i won't be fixing it myself, but would like any suggestions as to what may be the problem so i can discuss the issue with the mechanic as to what may possibly be the problem.... i want to avoid the dealership at all costs...

Sounds like the classic cracked intake manifold gasket symptoms.

Defenitly have the shop check the intake gasket, it's a known problem.

And this this where I step in and say,

If you are the first owner it is covered under the 120k/10yr warranty.

If you are the second ower it is half of the above ^ warranty.
