Hello guys,
I've got a '99 g20 with 71k miles and just yesterday while I was driving the "service engine light" came on. Does that light indicate that there is a serious internal problem? I hope not. A few hours before the light came on I removed a fuse but wasn't exactly sure if I put it back in the right place. Could that be the reason the light is on? The car seems to be running fine to me. Any suggestions on what to do besides taking it to the dealer would be appreiciated. thanks

The fuse may be the problem. Which fuse was it? Why did you remove it?

Did you buy the car from a dealer? If so, just bring it to them and play dumb ;)

I'll snap a pic of my fuse box and post it here. Maybe you can tell me if all the fuses look like they are in the right places. Any other possible problems that would make the light come on?

The other thing to check is what code tripped on teh ECU. There is a good write-up on ww.SE-R.net (http://www.se-r.net) that explains how to find it out from the ECU. And, i'm sure once you find out what the code is, someone here could help you find what it is, if it's not on SE-R.net that is.

Your manual should have a diagram of what the fuses are and where they go. The check engine just means that something is not registering right with the computer if there is a serious problem the light will blink, if it starts blinking then it's time to worry.

All the fuses seem to be in the right place. Would low transmission fluid activate the light? I noticed that the some fluid is leaking.
