Help on deciding exhaust

I need help on getting an exhaust...I want a low pitch but somewhat loud. I have a 98 Civic ex.

I guess I wanna know people's opinions on exhausts they've heard on the D16Y8 engine.

Thanks
Brian

I would seriously reconsider wanting the exhaust to be "loud". It is very possible that your wants are completely different than mine, but I have an APEXi knockoff, and it is loud to the point that it interferes with music (at moderate volumes) and normal conversation in the car.

It does have a nice pitch to it, but again, too loud for my taste. If I had it to do over again, I'd go Greddy.

Whatever exhaust you get, make sure you get a fullback exhaust, from headers all the way to the muffler and to the tip, we all know if you dont get a good exhaust all honda's sound like crap. If you want a more quiet kinda sound, try installing an intake system in your car, it gives a nice sound.

I wanna know the loudness of the Greddy EVO...are we talking 50 ft away you can hear it or is it quieter than that?

I'm really thinking the Skunk2 or Apexi N1 is the way for me

I hear the GReddy EVO is the quietest of the exhausts out there. I dunno though. Loud isnt really good though. My friends all have loud exhausts, they're mom's hate it, which isn't that big of a deal to them, but after about a month or two they all started to get annoyed by the constant VRRRRRMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM of their car. Just my :2cents:

i like the size of the Apexi world sport exhaust, but i don't know how it sounds on honda's. that's just my :2cents: that i have no clue about.

when you say this, do you mean a cat-back exhaust, or the headers all teh way back. sorry if this is a retarded question, i catch on slow. and if it is header's all the way back, do they have to be the same brand of headers? Is 4-1 better than 4-2-1? sorry, i'm stupid. :iceslolan

I have an Apexi N1 on my 97ex and it has a quiet deep sound. Of all the people I have talked to they say it sounds the best. It is also dynoed to have the most horsepower gains on a NA car. And second best on turbos. I dont like the fireball or 5zigen because all the ones ive heard sound too high pitched. If you plan on putting on a straight pipe dont by an expense catback because it ruins the sound

errrz n1 deeper then 5zigen? umm from what i've heard meaning my 5z next to n1 my car is shit load deeper with a crappy lil motor next to a n1 with SOHC vtec. I like my 5z and would vote for that or skunk2 they make awesome stuff

I recomment you get a 5" exhaust system with a glass pack muffler and a 7" tip it will sound like a dying moose an add at least 30 hp

Someone (I believe it was Solee3) sent me a sound clip of the exhaust and it sounds almost EXACTLY like it.

I would post the clip but...I don't know how...sniff sniff lol

Thanks for everyone's help

If you know how to TIG weld or maybe even MIG weld, id susgest welding your own with a muffler at the end. Its maybe a 1-2 hp difference, and you save like $200. A guy i know made his whole exhaust for his 91 supra from manifold to tip for $600 and just a cat back costs around $750-$800. I know a lotta people who have done it, you just have to buy mandrel bent stainless steel piping. I dunno if they went w/ the 304 or 321 stainless. I'm pretty sure 304 cuz that stuff is lighter and u dont need that much strength after the cat. I'm gonna do that w/ probably a 5Zigen fireball or Apexi muffler on the back.

that's what I did...

except I got a shop to do all the welding...but I got mandrel bent pipes and what not
