Fuel injection problem

1992 Mazda 323 1.6 lit, 80,000+ miles
I recently had to replace the fuel pump. After getting that working correctly the car would shut off after idling for a couple of minutes and there would be a weird clicking noise near the fuel injectors. I also noticed that the distributor was getting way hotter than normal. My guess is something is shutting the fuel injectors off but what and how do I fix it. Thanks in advance for your input.
