EGR--Where is it??

Where the heck is the EGR valve on my 1991 Astro? I've looked everywhere. I must be looking right at it but don't know what it looks like. I was told to look for a pipe running from the exhaust manifold to the intake manifold. Sorry, but I can't find it.

Thanks.

P.S. I'm just about our of things to check on this beast. I've run down every lead I could get off this list including plugs, plug wires, cap, rotor, pcv, vacuum leaks, fuel filter, cat converter, etc. No luck. It still runs bad. The EGR and Fuel pump are about all I've got left.

Yup, I was right. I was staring right at the EGR valve and didn't know it. What I thought was a vacuum advance was actually the EGR. The nice thing about cyber space is no one can see my red face.

I found out where this bugger was located by visiting autozone.com. I highly recommend it. It has tons of really good trouble shooting info and lots of drawings and photos to show you exactly what you need to see.

I have a 1993 W Engine and despite the helpfull pics at that site am still stumped.

I found the EGR Valves on lots of other Safari vans at the wrecker but on my own van, no dice.

Hmm, near as I can tell the EGR on my van may be under the hood under the air cleaner.

All the ones at the wrecker were in the doghouse.

How many linear EGR valves are there? I have one that I got from an older van but am not thinking it will make a good fit.

It looks just like the the one at that autozone website but apparently there are like 8 types.
