Given the opportunity, which of these GT's would you want to drive?
Aston Martin DB9

Bentley Continental GT

Mercedes SL55 AMG

Ferrari 612 Scaglietti

Yeah, I know the 612's price tag is much steeper than the others (which are otherwise similarly priced), but im wondering if this prancing horse has enough to tempt would-be owners to shell out the extra $$$.

Well the power and torque curve on the sl55 are just ridiculous but unfortunately Mercedes offers it only with an auto and that sadly takes off my list
Ferraris are my favorite cars by far but the 612 is among my least favorite ferrai
The db9 on the other hand is what a proper British car wearing the Aston badge should be especially the design which screams cruising in style
So my chose is DB9 without a doubt

You're a man of good taste, Neutrino
The 612 does nothing for me either, though im sure it's the best of the lot to drive. The SL is just too vulgar in this company (not to mention the cheap interior), and im not a big fan of the Bentley's looks (or weight). Make mine a DB9 :)
sadly only one response to the thread, maybe ill include a 300zx or civic next time.... sheesh...

I drive the SL55 almost daily so it wouldn't be that exciting to drive compared to the cars given in the list. The Bently is too big for my taste, and it probably drives similar to the CL55. The Ferrari doesn't really excite me all that much, plus I'm not much of a Ferrari fan. I'll take the Aston Martin DB9, it'll give the best experience for a one time drive car.

DB9 because it's beautiful.
The Bentley is the only other one I give a shit about.
The 612 isn't what a Ferrari is supposed to be and the SL55 is a Merc, wrong badge in this company!

I'd take the merc sl55 no doubt. I seen them almost daily here and they are pretty damn sexy. better than that ugly looking ferrari, bentley and aston martin which all look too round and fat for sports cars.
well I've seen 2 bentley gt's racing at the local drag track 2 weeks ago. they were both stock and were owned by two rich friends who wanted to test their cars against each other. One was a manual and one was an auto. the manual ran in the 13's and the auto ran in the 15's. Not bad but not what i expected from 552hp cars.

i wouldnt choose the mercedes because for one, it only comes in automatic, and two, it is a weird name in this level of cars.
i wouldnt chosse the bently cuz i see bently more of a luxury car and not a fast car.
its a close race between the austin and ferrari. but i personally i like the design of the 612 better than the db9.

What's all this talk about the Mercedes not being worthy of contending with these other cars just because it's got the Mercedes badge on it? So I guess that means even the SLR couldn't contend with these makes because it's got the star on it also? You people need to get off this exotic name=better performance thing.
Also, an SL55 with manual padel shift will shift a lot faster than you will the Aston Martin.

I wouldn't even consider the 612 in this class, i'd probably say the 575m if it were here, and the 612 is ugly in my opinion, 456 was much nicer. Not a big Bentley fan, so no continental. SL55 is pretty damn fast for the price, but im not a big convertable guy, even a hardtop, but it would be an awesome car for a wife/girlfriend. So i'd go DB9.

You need to learn how to read. No one said the SL's performance was lacking, just that it's the wrong badge in this company. Which is completely correct.

Well, yeah, the Merc badge on the SLR looks even more out of place, too much Merc, not enough McLaren.

The SLR shouldn't compete in this class. It's not a GT.
And it can't compete in the super car class where it's suppose to. Who'd want that if they had the option of buying an Enzo or Carrerra GT?
As to the question in this thread, I'd need more information on the 612S before making my decision. But for now it's the Aston no question. Sooooo sexy. Only complaint about that is only 450bhp fron 6L V12.

Apparently a lot of elite people with that kind of money since the first US bound SLR sold for $2.1 million in New York and the second SLR sold for $1.2 million in LA (for charity). That, and the fact that the 4 others promised to my dealership have been sold for twice the asking price. I dunno, maybe those people would rather have an SLR over the Enzo and Carrera GT. :dunno:

That was not the point of my sentence. I just added that in for emphasis. But I maintain that the Enzo and the Carrera GT are superior performance machines than the SLR.

Yes, they are. But the SLR was never intended to be competition on the track for the Enzo and Carrera GT. The SLR can be driven daily unlike the Enzo and Carrera. And since very few people can actually push any of these cars to the limit it makes the SLR a much better buy than the other two.

We'll agree to disagree.
I personally don't like V8's (I hide it well). So that plus the weight of the SLR and my preference for NA cars doesn't allow me to respect it as a Supercar.
But you're entitled to your opinion.
Anyway, we're off topic. The DB9 is a wonderfully designed car. Ulrich Bez hasn't lost his touch. And it was genius how he completely banned Ford from any involvement in its R&D. I wouldn't even consider buying it otherwise.
