16's vs 17's

Here's how things boil down. If i buy 17's they'll cost 600 dollars with tires(205/40/17), shipped. If i buy 16's they'll cost 700 dollars with tires (205/40/16), shipped. 16's are better for the car, but the package creates a wheel smaller than my stock size (185/65/14). The 17's are cheaper and the package creates a wheel the same size as my stock tire. What should i do? The 16's package will throw off my speedometer, which i can deal with, but it will also throw off my odometer, which i can't deal with (may sell car later). I can get four 16 inch rims for 600 without tires, would they look wierd if i get tires that will match my original stock tire diameter?

A 195/50/R16 or a 205/45/R16 will both be the same diameter as the stock wheel and tire combo.
Don't forget about additional rotational mass as you increase both tire and rim sizes. When weight moves farther away from the center it is harder to get it rolling.

Thanks a lot! Does anyone know if 16's with these tires would look funny? What set would you recommend for maximum ride comfort?
