Easy Cost Efficient Upgrades?

I have a 95 Celica GT Convertible, (very rare to find where I live), its all stock, automatic...... About a week ago me and my friend went out to a vacant landscape where many people race and for fun we did a quick race, about a 1/4 mile or so and he beat me of course (with his 1999 Eclipse Spyder standard all stock) and ever since then Ive been thinking of suping up my car, nothing to technical or anything, just some thing basic which wont cost me a leg which will increase mostly acceleration, im looking into some heathers, any other useful tips.... thanks.

If you're willing to spend big bucks, go to www.LCEngineering.com and look at their options, but im not sure if they have anything for your motor considering im new to toyotas and dont know the engine codes. For basic stuff such as intakes, headers, and cat-back stuff go to www.nopi.com. Working on cars is fun but it's anything but cheap unfortunately. But one of those sites should have what you're looking for.

1. Intake
2. New computer chip for fuel/air flow


for the intake try here http://www.weapon-r.com/ : these intakes are quality, a few of my friends have these...i personally like them, although i would suggest just finding a cheaper version...seeing as most of them all do the same...add 5-10hp and add an awesome throaty throttle sound....as cool as an exhaust..just less annoying

i own a 90 celica gt, and you and me my friend, share engines....and i hate the break it you, but there is virtually no aftermarket for the 5th/6th gen celicas...
you can chop off i think 3 or 4 inches from a honda civic short ram intake
you can custom make a cold air intake
exhaust has to be custom done by a shop...unless you've got a 3sgte 5th gen alltrac :)
i don't know where to get them, but i'm pretty sure there are headers out there....there is a turbo kit(around $2500) and a supercharger kit(around $3,000)

basically, swap in a 3sgte and you've got a much better aftermarket, with parts from HKS, JUN Auto Mechanic, several others


and 3rdWrldRcr, LCEngineering didn't appear to have anything for the 5SFE, they appear to just cater to the toyota trucks...

engine codes for 5th/6th gen celica's are as follows
ST - 4AFE (4AGE, 4AGZE are direct swaps, with the exception of wiring)
GT - 5SFE (3S-GE, 3S-GTE are direct, exception being the wiring)cannot be made all-wheel drive(at least cheaply)
GT-S(no GT-S for 6th gen) - 5SFE (3S-GE, 3S-GTE are direct, exception being the wiring) cannot be made all-wheel drive(at least cheaply)
All-Trac - 3SGTE, and all-wheel drive...

so there's your engine codes, and the answer on aftermarket support

however, suspension mods should work, i know struts/shocks are 5th/6th gen switchable, but strut bars, sway bars etc, probably aren't

Thier 2.2r or re will bolt directly into a gt. It's a replacement for the 5sfe. They also have exhaust kits that will fit the car.

22r is from the 81-83 celica, and it's 2bbl carburated...
22re is out of the 1983-85 Celica GT/GT-S...
and i can garuntee you that these will not directly bolt in to a 5th or 6th gen...both of those are also rwd
