Half Life CS HELLLLLLP!

Okay here is the deal. My buddy just bought Counter Strike. Me and my buddy both are complete newbs when it comes to online gaming so please be patient. We'll he's done the patches from some sites and all that, and he still can't get online to play at all. He'll download a patch, and he'll get ipx disconnected or something on the game screen. He went through all the instructions that the game came with, wait almost 30 minutes for the patch to download and still he gets nothing. He's about to go nuclear on his computer. If anybody has any answers please help out. Thanks!

Wait, bought CS? Its free. Unless you mean you bought Half Life. Or maybe you bought CS: Condition Zero? In which case I can't help you out, sorry.

No, he just bought the original CS. He didn't get the game from a patch, he bought it at best buy. Like I said, we are both newbs with online gaming. He just can't get the motherf****r to run. Please help us!!!!

Alright, check it out, you can download CS for free (if you have Half Life), or you can buy it from the store. When you buy it from the store, like your friend did, you have seperate downloads to get than if you just downloaded the MOD itself to Half Life. Your friend probably downloaded a patch for the game that was for the MOD version, not the retail version. Right now CS 1.6 is out and it requires the program called Steam. Download that and it should work. (I have been playing since CS beta back in Spring of 98')
