What happened to the human shields?

Remember when the people went to Iraq to help protect the Iraqis from being harmed. What happened to them? Do they no longer care about the Iraqi people as they once did?

Shouldn't they be camped out at Iraqi police stations and the Rashid Hotel to keep terrorists from attacking them? Were they attending muslim festivals in Iraq to prevent attacks?

Perhaps they didn't really ever care about the Iraqis. Perhaps they were just anti USA all along and pretended to care about Iraqi's in order to have a platform on which to protest the United States?

They had no problem (well most actually did as they ran when hostilities started) going into harms way claiming their love of peace then, shouldn't the same be true now?
