Whats up yall. i have a 04 lancer es and i want to put 18s on it but i heard they rub if theyre too wide. Anyone have this problem yet.
Also if anyone has oz rims or the ground effect lips i would be interested in buying them for a reasonable price. THis is just if you got this stuff collecting dust and wanna make some extra cash. Let me know. thanx

well lets just say I've never seen a lancer with anything bigger than 18's, EVER, and that includes most show cars, the ones that are driven anyway. So judging by this I assume they must have problems with 18's, hell my camaro would have problems with 18's. I'm sure it could be done if you really wanted but you'd have to do a lot to make sure the rims don't get damaged whenever you drive. Hardly worth the pain, i'd just get 17's.

The biggest you could go would be 18x7.5 and even then you may need to use a spacer on the rear hub, largest tyre size for the VR-X model is 235/45/R18 not sure about the ES!

if you check import racer october 04 there's a evo 8 2003 that has 18's exactly 18 x 9.5!!!! tires 255/35/18 tell me that ain't sweet. i wonder if it would fit on 04 ralliart??? but i know that the evo has wide fenders

lancerlady you probably should have gotten 40's or 35's, but on 17 inch rims i'm not sure if they make 35's????? that i'm not sure of i'm thinking of getting 225/35/18 or 235/35/18 but riding on them is hard as hell

the stock OZ rims won't fit on te ES models; differnt lug pattern. as for as 18s go. it's doable, but not without a bupy ride form the short sidewall and a constant risk of hitting a bump and bending the rims. I've got 17s on mine with a 205/40 series tire and it's great. i've hit a couple potholes accidentally kinda hard with them and not a scuff. not sure if it's the taller tires or a harder wheel but either way.
the widest i've heard people going is 18x7.5 and i've heard of rubbing and not rubbing from different people. the 17x7s like mine don't rub at all.

those 255/35/18 may only fit on that car i said because it's an evo and has fender flare's may also go with how much offset you put on your rims??? i'm not sure just a thought

sorry for taking so long to repost. i don't have a way to post pics, but if someone will host for me, i can email you a few. keep in mind that these rims were on the car when i got it. they don't rub at all, not even with a full load. as for a bumpy ride, yes, you can feel the inconsistancies in the road, but i also drive a lot (pa to ga) and it's not harsh by any means. they have a great performance advantage and you just have to watch out for big holes in the ground.

ya low pros kinda do that but i guess thats what you have to pay for, for the performance in the tire. i had 17's before, 205/40/17's on a hyundai accent they looked great and made the car look 100% better then what it did but i did have rubbing with them once in awhile, but that was on that car. but also it went from a 13 to a 17 in tire size.
