96 SL vs..... celica gts!!!

what do you people think? both manual...

Doesn't a celica gts run at 180hp? With an extra 42 horses i can't imagine the SL woundn't take it to school...

i wooped on a gts on saturday. my SL took him, it was a 2003 too.

I've raced a couple before... They're not hard to beat.

lol my friend tells me his friend's gts beat a 350z, and im like wtf? maybe he did, but then again the z driver was drunk or something....

Lol then that's not really much of a race... I'd like to see him try when the z driver is sober... Unless he doesn't know how to drive...

no like, my friend said they were both fine, no one was drunk that was just my thought on the z driver cus really i cant believe a gts can take a 350...

My bad... Yeah that's a little farfetched... No way a GTS could take a 350...

there's so many reasons why he could have thought he won. a big thing is downshifting, once a rsx thought he beat me cause i was just trnya see if i could beat him without downshifting, i almost won put he pulled on me. little does he know if i would have downshifted i would have murdered him

haha, id have 2 agree. Anyways, celicas really arn't much of a challenge. They look fast like their commercials said..but in reality they are nothing amazing. SL and the 350z should both take it pretty easily. And I'd agree with youngvr4, every once in awhile its fun to see if you can beat cars cruising in 5th or never going above 3000rpms. But that can also be a pain when you're cruising in 6th at 2200 and some bastard wants to race and you have to play catchup for the first 200yards. I met some riced out honda took off when I was just cruising, so at the next light I asked him what he runs, he replied 13.8. I told him I run 13.5, he laughed and mubbled something about 15.5 When it turned green I proceeded to demonstrate what the vr4 can do in 2nd and 3rd WOT....he didn't roll down his window at the next light....

i only have 4 :eek: but that 4th gear can extend close to 200 mph, believe it or not, 4200 rpms at 120, you do the math

as for the celica, those cars virtually have no torque whatsoever so it will take him a while to get to 180ish hp whatever it has, i'd have to put my money on the 3000

Celica GTS has something called lift in 3rd gear which gives it extra power, no clue what it is but its supposed to be nice. Other than that im pretty sure the SL would take it hands down, ive yet to race one though. I posted this comparison on a GTS and they are like dude we would smoke you and im like yeah okay :screwy:
