?? wheel vibration

Wondering if anyone has any ideas on what I can check for. At highway speeds 65+ car starts vibrating excessively, can feel the steering wheel start to vibrate. Car was stuck in the mud a couple weeks ago and that's when the problem started. At first it vibrated all the time, city and highway speeds. Felt like I was on flat tire but tires were fine. Took the car into an autoshop and they said it was just the excessive mud. They cleaned it out and worked fine at city speeds. However problem still continued at hwy speeds. Took it into the dealer, they said there was still quite a bit of mud. cleaned it out. Dealer said they checked the wheels, bearings, etc. on front tires and all was well except for a loose tie rod. Tie rod hasn't been replaced yet but can still feel the vibrations. Any ideas if the tie rod could be the only culprit?

get in there and clean out that mud really good. thats your problem. i would take your wheels off and clean them out really good. And if that isnt the problem then the tie rod is, you should get that fixed anyways. Also could be the little weights on the side of the tire.

Get the front tires balanced, if not all four.

Check/replace the steering pivot bushings that connect the steering arms to the rack and pinon assembly. They are connected directly in the center of the vehicle on the firewall (in a Quad-4).
The kit costs less than $10 bucks at Autozone. all you need is a 15MM wrench/socket to remove and reinstall the mounting bolts. do'nt forget to replace the top bracket and keeper bracket that prevents the bolts from coming loose! The work can be finished in 30 minutes!

Thanks for all the tips. Did get the tie rod replaced, knew I didn't have a choice on that. Still had the vibration problem after that but went ahead and balanced all four tires, that did the trick, works fine now.
