97 bonneville no air through vents - A/C

Just bought a 97 SSEi..great car, However can't get a/c to come out of vents. Blows through defrost or heat vents even when display shows vents. Is there a gear that breaks or something that controls where the flow of air goes to. I had this problem off and on with my 92 SSE but it always corrected itself. Any ideas?

There is a vaccum hose close to the fire wall. It may have come unplugged. I have had this on several vehicles. Hook the hose back up (if it is off) this should correct the problem. Hope this helps.

The hose is on the outside under the hood. You can see it close to the fire wall on the driver side.
It has a enclosure right above it that has the recepticle for the hose.

Thanks for the tip! I checked and this hose is fastened okay. I can select different modes on the HVAC and air will come out of vents only on the vent/floor combo. All others air comes out of defrost and floor vents only. Any suggestions?

It kind of sounds like the air flow flap is not working. There is a vaccuum switch under the dash on the passenger side. You may want to remove the panels so that you can see this switch. It will have I think a pink vaccuum hose attached to it. When you turn the air on see if this has vaccuum applied to it. If it doesn't you will want to replace the vaccuum switch.
