American EVO brakes

Hey guys...
Just doing a little research on the net about the EVO 7 thats coming to the states. I understand that for the most part, what we are getting is EVO GSR and those include 17inch rotors up front and 16inch rotors out back. so why does this article from Edmunds http://www.edmunds.com/news/autoshows/articles/48582/page016.html say 14 and 12"? Could it be just a mistake? They still mention the EVO having 4pot and 2pot calipers. Even if we were to get the RS version, we would still get 15"s front and back. Let me know what you guys think.

I think the 17in and 16in are a mistake. The brakes that are on the EVO 7 are 13inch in the front and 12inch in the rear.

I don't know how mitsubishi measures their brake rotors. Cause how can their rotors be the same diameter as the wheels that rotate around them? the 14 and 12 numbers make more sense.. but the evo7 pdf file clearly says 17... this is weird. anybody know how they measure their rotor size?

Ummm....i don't have the map on my computer buuuut they measure it a bit smaller then we do...just with the Yokohama tires and with goodyears that we have here. All measured different

no way would they bring 12 and 14 over.

I think 14 and 12 would be more likely. a 17 inch brake is huge! while i think it'd be awesome, im not sure it would fit inside a wheel that itself is 17 inches. you need some clearance.

Come on guys, 17" brakes? If I recall the EVO VI GSR uses Brembo 4 piston calipers on the front with a 12.5" rotor and Brembo 2 piston calipers on the back with a 9.5" rotor both front and rear vented. SportCompact car tested the EVOVI 60 to 0 at 117ft. They tested the VII 60 to 0 at 114ft. I would assume the EVOVII is using the same brakes as the EVO VI from the pics that I have seen. The VII is running 235's vs the VI 225's which might help it stop a bit better. Remember this is a production car not a super car!

Thats what the official mitsubishi evovii press kit says... not saying that i believe that its right.. but just questioning if we'll get smaller brakes cause if mitsu PR screwed up the numbers for the press kit, maybe they could have screwed up the numbers for the other press releases. :bloated: i'm beginning to think that they got the numbers right when they were talking to edmunds.

I just went out and took some pics so you can get a looky at the size of the brakes.

The brakes are 14 and 12, look at the pic.
a 17 inch rim as a inside diameter of about 15.5, the brakes on the front wheel have about an inch of clearence.
Cant get a good look at the back, and usually back are smaller, so even numbers sounds right.

just the mathematics...
