Go to the NHRA drag races and watch Top Fuel dragsters and funny cars. And since you would be new to it, you might want to cover your ears.

HOLY SHIT.

What does it hit at the end of the track? Has to be around 6 seconds judging from that launch.

Yeah, Top Fuel is the greatest. If you head into the pits, make sure to stand about 30 feet away at all times too, Nitromethane fumes can make the strongest teary eyed.

That is pretty hauling for a rotary.

My question is how the heck did he get his hands on a four row. As far as I know, the GTP/Group C engines weren't publicly available. Is it a crank graft of two 13B's or something?

Is it just me or does the exaust tone on a 4 rotor sound like the meanest son-of-a-bitch ever to come out of a fd? What are the specs on a 4 rotor cause ive never heard of one...just of the 2 and 3 rotor

DAMN i wonder what that et was... has to be pretty decent.

nice hook too, maybe because of the rotary's inherent lack of torque, but the driver seemed to be very skilled.

now see, that's what rotaries are supposed to sound like! too bad everybody has to put cheap exhaust on their rx7s and make them sound like ass. or maybe that's just what 2 rotors sounds like, i'm not all that good with those motors. i am a little curious as to where he got a 4-chamber tho.

wishing i had an rx-7 to play with :naughty:

No torque my ass. That thing took off FAST. Sounded like an Indy car or something....

Geezus. I would never line up against something that sounds like that.

I don't know if it is publicly available, I've seen one in another video a while back if I find that link I will post it up, plus yeah it is 100% custom.

Maybe they just straight jacked it out of a 787B? :dunno:

Thatz one bad Mazda guess thats where they get the "zoom zoom" from cuz it sure as hell ain't from the miata or the 6 lol RX-7s are just something u don't play around with and the 4 rotor wasn't availible in the U.S. ? cuz it looks like its a right hand drive vehicle which prob. make it a Jap. Made vehicle thats prob. how he got his hands on it. not sure though ::hmmm....::

Damn that did sound a lot like a indy car.

Well, SICKGTP6, there was a three row rotary in the Cosmo sport coupe, in Japan. A car that's basically the Japanese equivalent of a thunderbird. Four rows, on the other hand, were not used in road going car, but instead used in Mazda's successful Group C/GTP sports racer program in the 80's.

I doubt these engines were ever made publicly available.

Mazda Rx7's came stock with very low torque 13B (2 Rotor) engines.

In Japan, they have a Consmo which was the only car with the 20B (3 Rotor) engine. The 3 Rotor is not street legal in Japan except for in the Consmo. But the engine fits nicely into the Rx7's ;)

With an installed 20B.
A friend of mine was at around 400 HP, 400 Tq.
That was with his normal turbo setup.
He recently upgraded to a T-66 and at full boost he has around 600 hp.
He hasnt dyno'd it yet so we dont know his tq yet.

With a 4 Rotor. You dont need the turbos.
The 787B has 700 hp and around 500 ft lbs tq.
Thats without any forced induction.

No company produces the 4 rotor. Every one u see is custom.
The 3 rotor was only produced for the Cosmo.
And there is no crank shaft, its all Eccentric.

How did the driver manage to keep that monster in a straight line?

OMG lmao sorry guys I had a feeling before I downloaded the video of which car it was based on the descriptions of the sound.

Hate to burst any bubbles but that video is sped up BIG time but all good and yes it does sound sorta like an F1 car, but not. It is loud as fucking hell though!
I've taken some pictures of Performance Car mag here in New Zealand of that car and yes it is a New Zealand car built here. My scanner isn't working with XP Pro so please forgive the quality.

the thing that scares me about thats car is the BRAKES: STANDARD. shit, with that much power output, I would want to make sure I upgrade those stoppers megatime.

Tell me about it! The owner is a really nice guy. I had a chat with him a the last import nationals, only because he wound up next to two of my mates who were racing. I can tell you the car is very well engineered!
