Hello Everyone

I just purchased a 1989 Caprice Classic Brougham LS this week, and I'm looking at making some perfomance modifications to make the car a little more exciting. I'm thinking about simple things like headers, exaust, intake manifolds, etc... My car also suffers from some Hawaii rust around on the doors, and at the corners of the vinyl top...is it possible to remove the top alltogether, or is it best to leave it be? I absolutley love this car, I am the second owner, and the car has just over 101,000 miles on it, they just don't make them like this anymore!

Those upgrades are a great place to start...
The vinyl top can come off, just be ready for rust that you couldn't see before. You were lucky to find one with such low milage! Take good care of her.

Does anyone know of some good companies that make performance parts that will work in my car? I know that many parts will "fit" but I wanted to avoid any possible snags. I remember when I was buying headers for my 87 Monte SS that only a couple of companies had holes for the O2 sensor so the computer would still work. I'm interested in an intake manifold, computer chip, underdrive pulleys, headers and exaust, as well as any other upgrades that would be useable if I decide to swap to a 350 after the 305 piddles out.

Also, I'm not sure what tranny is in my new gem...is it the 200r4 like my Monte?

Should be a 700r4.
