stock badging and logos

i am planning on diong some work on my 2001 malibu and i thought it would look really cool if i removed the stock badging and chevy logos. i wan't to remove them without dammiging the paint. any sugestions?

Needed Items/Tools:
Hair Dryer
Fishing Line/Dental Floss
Bug and Tar Remover
Cloth/Towel
Wax
The first step is to determine if your vehicle's emblems can be shaved. Most older make cars, most imports, and even some domestics use emblems that are riveted through the trunk lid or hood. Pop your trunk, and make sure that your emblem is not. Make sure that the emblem that you want to remove is only held in place with double-side 3M tape.
Once you determine that your car's emblems can be removed, its time to get to work.
Prepare to do the job. Pull off a length of dental floss or fishing line; about two feet should do the trick. Set it nearby where you can grab it quickly.
The first step is to heat the emblem. I find that the girlfriend's hair dryer on the HIGH setting works great. If you choose to use a heat gun be extremly careful. Too much concentrated heat will damage your paint. This mod works even better on a warm day. Cold days will be much more difficult.
Heat the emblem, moving the heat in a sweeping motion, moving it as to not damage the paint.
Once the emblem feels kind of loose, quickly take the floss/fishing line, put it bwhind the emblem, and move the line in a sawing motion, as if to saw the badge off the car. Pull against the badge as you do this, not against the car. This will damage the paint. You may have to repeatedly re-heat the emblem. Don't worry, just take your time.
Once the emblem is removed, there will be some tape and glue still left on the vehicle. Some people recommend using Goo Gone or WD-40. These products will work, but have a very high probability to damage the paint. I find that Bug and Tar remover works excellent. Spray the area, and let it sit for 5-10 minutes. You may have you repeat this step also.
Once you have removed all of the tape and glue, you will need to wax the area. Clean the area, and then wax the area. Buff it throughly with a clean, dry cloth.
Thats it! A quick and simple way to clean up the looks of your vehicle.
