Huh?... Zero Stage S14??... (http://www.zerostage.co.jp) What the funk is that???... Well its a Nissan Silvia S14 with S15 front end, RB26DETT supplying the grunt and its...err...blue:D Appeared in Option/2 a few times from which i'm getting all my reference. I'd tell you all alot more about it if I could read Japanese but i'm not bothered about specs - i just think it looks cool and presented the perfect opportunity to work on a S14 kit...
http://www.scaleautostyle.com/images/AF/ZEROSTAGE_S14/ZEROSTAGE_mags.jpg
Taking one Fujimi S14 and one S15, I began with a little cut and shut - just like they do down at Honest Joe's Quality Used Cars just down the road from me:D Taking inspiration and reference from spoolin's excellent 180sx/S15 (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=138725&highlight=s15+front) project thread, I opted for a similar cutting point for the two front ends. I measured up many times being extra careful to get the cuts right, surprisingly the process was trouble free and with first dry fitting the S15 front mated up quite nicely to the S14.
http://www.scaleautostyle.com/images/AF/ZEROSTAGE_S14/ZEROSTAGE_1.JPG
Some slight modification was required before the S15 was grafted on though. To begin with the S15 front being narrower and with diferent contours meant there was little surafce area between it and the S14 body to provide a good enough bond. To remedy this a strip of .030 styrene was glued to the inside of the S14 body along the edge of the cut. Prior to this .010 styrene was glued to the face of the cut to replace the plastic removed by the razor saw.
http://www.scaleautostyle.com/images/AF/ZEROSTAGE_S14/ZEROSTAGE_2.JPG
Strips of styrene were also placed infront of the widscreen to fill the gap between it and the S15 hood. The profile was carefully sanded to shape
http://www.scaleautostyle.com/images/AF/ZEROSTAGE_S14/ZEROSTAGE_3.JPG
With the S15 front now firmly attached, the shapes of styrene you can see behind the front wheel arches were placed there to make up the difference in width. Filler was not used for this as I shall need to build upon this area with more styrene later on so a good bond is needed. Other styrene strips of various thickness were glued at strategic places on the rear for the wide body kit. Thin .010 pieces were used to define the outline of the bolt on wider fenders and thus obtain a crisp edge. The contour of the fender will be aided by the pieces across the length of the rear and round the wheel arch, this should become clear later on.

http://www.scaleautostyle.com/images/AF/ZEROSTAGE_S14/ZEROSTAGE_5.jpg
http://www.scaleautostyle.com/images/AF/ZEROSTAGE_S14/ZEROSTAGE_6.jpg
I shall be doing similar work on the front in preparation for putty work later on which will be shown in future updates. It makes a change to do this sort of build instead of modifications necessary for t/kits, hopefully I can get i finished in time for comp.

Well, I have seen some of your work and it is the best I've seen so if you finish this in time I can't see how you could lose the competition. The project is impressive! I hope the results are equally impressive. I'm sure they will be. Good luck!

any progress on this?
Very little. Everytime I seem to start a progress thread on something here all progress stops for months. I did do a little bit of work to it a couple of weeks ago and will continue to post reports when I can. I've been mostly concentrating on other stuff though, obviously this never made it for the comp deadline - just like the ITR before:D
