92 Buick Regal Dash

Hi.

I have a 92 Buick Regal 4dr 3.8 custom. The dashboard has a digital speedometer. For some reason when I turn the lights on at night; the lights for the dash/radio/heater controls just come on and off as they please with no rhyme or reason. They can go for weeks without working and then blink on and off, or stay on. The speedometer is the only thing that stays lit when they go out. I have replaced the entire cluster becuase the analog odometer stopped working but this did not correct the problem. Any ideas?

Also does anyone know where the remote keyless entry transmitter is located in this car? I would like to try to fix solder connections but I am not sure where it is located.

I have the same problem, with the analogue cluster. There is a TSB (technical service bulletin) from GM on this. Aparantly 92 Regals have a wiring short behind the dash that causes intemittent or inoperative dash lights. Visit the dealer for info.

The keyless entry transmitter should be under the passenger seat.

just fixed the same problem today with my dash light....after replacing the cluster with no luck, I replaced the headlight swithch. I was advised the variable resister in these go bad. I now have dash lights.

Hi karquest, were all of your dash lights out? I have absolutely no lights, minus the radio display. I'll give the switch replacement a try. How much did GM charge you for the switch? Wonder if a switch from a 1993 would work if I were to obtain one from a wreckers? Aparantly this problem is specific to 1992 models (or so I've been told). Thanks for your post. I hate being in the dark!
