My 1995 chev pick-up does nt respond well with strain in reverse. There is a grinding or slipping noise. With a heavy strain, it wil not back-up. I have no porblem with forward gear. I thought low gear and reverse are part of the same clutch pack, but I have no problem in low gear. Is this a transmision problem?

Sounds like the reverse mount went.. Take it to the trany shop.. It should be less than having a it rebuilt since thats the only trany problem your having..

If all foward gears are working then it is either the reverse input or low reverse clutches. If you don"t have engine braking in manual 1st, low reverse clutches are shot.
