Just bought a 85 Honda Accord for my son. 200,000 + miles. when we start the car it whats to die, when put in gear,it does die. Very hard on a cold start. I have heard that this generation of Honda has a distributor problem. We have no check engiene light. Once it is warm no problems. I guess what I'm saying is that it has a cold idle problem. Anyone have any ideas?

Start at the fuel system, check plugs, filter, pull off the distibutor cap, and check the cap and rotor for wear. From there move on to other possibilities. I don't have a manual for that model, so I can't tell you all the specific electronics you can check :(
